The Chavín culture, one of the oldest and most enigmatic civilizations of the Andes, left a fascinating legacy at Chavín de Huántar, its main religious and political center. This impressive archaeological site, located in the highlands of the present-day Áncash region, was built around 900 BC and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Chavín de Huántar invites you to explore its complex architecture, underground galleries, and mysterious sculptures, showcasing the grandeur of this prehistoric civilization. Embark on a journey to the past and enjoy a unique experience at one of Peru's most important archaeological destinations.

DAY 01: HUARAZ - QUEROCOCHA LAGOON - CHAVIN - HUARAZ

  • 8:30 AM Departure: Head south of Huaraz, passing through the picturesque towns of Recuay, Ticapampa, and Catac.
  • First stop: Arrive at the beautiful Querococha Lagoon, where we’ll make a brief stop to enjoy the landscape and take photographs. Continuing on, we’ll cross the Cahuish Tunnel and begin our descent through the Callejón de Conchucos, heading towards the village of Chavín.
  • Main visit: Explore the impressive Chavín Archaeological Center, where we’ll admire iconic structures such as the Cabeza Clava, the Lanzón Monolítico, the Portico of the Falcónidas, and much more.
  • Lunch: Free time to enjoy lunch in the village.
  • Last stop: Visit the Chavín National Museum, home to important artifacts and pieces that complement the archaeological site experience.
  • Return: Conclude the tour with the return to Huaraz.
